The day that takes a competent potter's work from fine to worth looking at. Everything fired here and posted to you.
You can throw well and still pull dull, patchy, muddy pieces out of the kiln, and no amount of practice at the wheel fixes it. Glaze is chemistry, thickness and temperature, and almost nobody is taught any of the three.
Six people. One kiln. Everything fired.
You load it yourself at half past four, which is the part of the day that teaches you what not to do.

10:00 — the nine
Every glaze on the shelf, on test tiles, on three clay bodies. You will see why the same bucket gives four colours.

13:00 — your own pieces
Bring six bisque-fired pots. Dip, pour, wax, layer. This is most of the day.

16:30 — loading
You load the kiln yourself, which is the part that teaches you what not to do.
